New Liberty Day Child Development Camp Program 6/18/09
The importance of knowing how to communicate with canines and interacting safely with dogs was the goal of our demonstration. All were shown how to approach a dog and how to properly pet someone else’s dog. Knowing these things can prevent danger when dealing with strange dogs. Kingdom K-9 wants to thank all of the staff and children at New Liberty for allowing us to demo canines. We look forward to our next visit.

Summer Camp - July 18, 2009
The kids got to see huge Domino and tiny Chica. They were fascinated by the difference in sizes. Joe Simmons spoke briefly before demonstrations given by himself, Sid Washington III & Tiffany Gorecka with our four of our stars - Domino, Shuga, Lady, & Sebastian.
He spoke of the nature of dogs, and God's purpose for dogs. All dogs were originally bred as hunters. This is an instinct inbreed in them. Larger dogs were usually used to hunt large prey such as deer, wild pigs, and such. Smaller dogs were used to hunt rats, snakes, rabbits, and such. Knowing this makes it possible to help protect yourself from a dog.
Rule #1 - Don't approach a strange dog. Never run from a dog unless you are certain you can reach protection before the dog can reach you. If you do this he instinctively sees you as prey and will chase you and probably bite you. If a strange dog approaches you stand still or slowly back away and face the dog. Do not lock eyes with it as this is confrontational to a dog. If it circles you, turn with him so you can still see him from the corner of your eye. Generally, after circling you, he will go on about his business. He has seen that you aren't confronting him yet also see you aren't afraid of him.
